António José da Silva Garrido (born December 3, 1932) is a former Portuguese football referee. He was the first referee who red carded two players, from the same team, in a World Cup match (1978).


World Cup 1978 (Argentina)   :  Argentina - Hungary 2-1
World Cup 1982 (Spain): England - France 3-1, Poland - France 3-2
UEFA Euro 1980 (Italy): Italy - Belgium 0-0

UEFA Champions Cup Final : Nottingham Forrest – Hamburg  1-0 (1980)
UEFA Super Cup : Hamburg - Liverpool  1-1 (1977)

  2. Actually, two players from the same team had been red carded long before that, in the game Chile vs. Italy in the 1962 World Cup... the referee was Kenneth George Aston (England), and the two players were Giorgio Ferrini and Mario David, of the Italian team.
